How can I use as an Event-Manager or Moderator the Question-and-Answer Tool during an event?

The Question-and-Answer Tool is the easiest way to quickly communicate interactively with your attendees. You can configure it according to your individual needs, allowing participants to ask you questions or make comments. You can find detailed instructions about the setup of the Q&A-Tool in this article.

Visit our MediaEvent Services homepage to learn more about the benefits of the Question-and-Answer Tool.

Manage Questions

To manage the Q&A Tool before or during a live event, click Events in the left main menu, select your event from the list, and then click Questions.

Try out the new Q&A Tool (1)! Activate the toggle in the upper right corner.

Here you can now manage all questions asked in 3 columns:

  • New (2): Every question that is asked ends up in the column New at the beginning.
  • Live (3): As soon as you have dragged a question into the column Live, it will be shown to the speakers and, if activated, to the attendees.
  • Answered (4): As soon as a question is answered, you can drag it into the designated right column.

In addition, you can see the current voting result to the right of the questions or delete the question by clicking on the trash bin icon (5).

PLEASE NOTE: The questions are not completely deleted but end up in the trash bin (see below).

You can drag and drop all questions into the respective column and sort them according to your wishes.

You can use the like icon (6) in the top right corner to sort the questions by votes, as long as you have activated this option in the event settings.

You can publish selected questions that you have dragged into the column Live in the attendee view during an event:

  • As soon as the event is live and the question is dragged into the column Live, a megaphone icon appears to the right of the question.
  • With a click on the icon, the question is displayed together with the name of the questioner, if applicable, in the top centre of the attendee view as a push message.
  • To hide the push message, click on the icon again.

PLEASE NOTE: Be aware of the technical delay of 20 seconds during your live event! This is due to a technical feature in the broadcast of the stream to the attendee and also affects the display of the push message.

Edit Questions

Any question that ends up in the column New can be edited:

  • Click on the text field of the question.
  • A pop-up window opens in which you can edit the question.
  • As soon as you have clicked on the question, it is blocked for other users in the moderator mode. This prevents you from concurrently editing the same question.

  • As soon as you have finished editing the question, click on Save.

PLEASE NOTE: If you want to reset the question to its original state, click on the icon Undo on the right-hand side of the question.

Further settings

At the bottom right via the cog icon (1) you have the following options:

  • Reset sorting (2): If you have sorted the questions by voting, you can use this to reset them.
  • Show question form (3): You can use this field (6) to pass on information to the speaker that is not visible to the participants.
    • After the entry, they appear highlighted in the column New (7).
    • Drag the entry from New to Live so that the speaker can see them in the speaker mode.
  • Show trash bin (4): This opens your recycle bin, where you can see the deleted questions. A new column Trashed (8) opens.
    • You can drag and drop the trashed questions into the New and Live columns to restore them.
    • You close the column Trashed by clicking again on the trash icon (4) at the bottom right.
  • Export questions (5): You can download the questions from the tool as an Excel file with one click.

PLEASE NOTE: When verbally inviting attendees to submit questions in a Question-and-Answer session, expect their answers to be at least 20 seconds late. This is due to a technical feature in the broadcast of the stream to the attendee.
