How can I add translated subtitles to my recordings / video files?

Using a simple method, it is possible to create translated subtitles for your event. This allows you to provide your recording on SlideSync for an international audience by editing the VTT file (subtitle file)

Detailed instructions on how to edit your VTT file can be found in this article.

To generate a translation of your subtitling, click Events in the left main menu, select your event from the list, and then click Files.

Select your video into which you want to create a translated subtitle from the section Media.

One click will take you to the overview of your recording or video file.

Scroll down to the section Subtitles.

If you have created subtitles, you can download them by clicking on the download icon to the right of the file.

PLEASE NOTE: You can delete the subtitles by clicking on the trash bin icon.

You will now receive a vtt file that you can open with a simple text editor software.

You can easily edit and translate the transcription of your subtitling:

Edit and translate the original text passages (outlined in red) into the respective target language independently.

PLEASE NOTE: Translate only the designated text passage per time stamp.

ATTENTION: Please edit ONLY the transcriptions (outlined in red) and do NOT change ANYTHING about the numbering or the timestamps (outlined in blue)! These are important for proper subtitling and should not be changed.

Once you have finished translating and saving your file, select the correct language in SlideSync that the subtitle file was translated into, click Choose File, select your finished translated VTT file, and click Open.

Once you click Add Subtitle, the translated subtitle will be added to the video file.
