How can I edit my recordings?

Once you have finished a live web- or audiocast and enabled the recording, you can edit the recording in SlideSync with a few clicks. Your options:

  • Adjust the length and order of the slides of the video or audio track.
  • Shorten the beginning and end of the recording.

To edit your recording, click Events in the left main menu, select your event from the list, and then click Edit recording.

You either get directly to the editing mode or to the overview of your recordings (if more than one recording is saved): A list of your recordings is seen.

PLEASE NOTE: More than one recording is listed if you have

  • sent a backup stream (primary and secondary stream)
  • multiple languages have been set and broadcast
  • the webcast has been stopped and restarted.

To edit them, click the yellow button Edit on the right or directly on the title of the recording.

If you want to see how the recording would look like in the preview, click the blue button Preview.

You enter the editing mode. It consists of five sections:

  1. Video view
  2. Slide view
  3. Video edit toolbar
  4. Video timeline with slideshow
  5. Slidedeck

  1. You can see whether the correct recording has been selected in the video view (1). If you want to change it, you can easily do so by clicking Gallery in the upper right corner of the view.
    1. Select a file or upload your desired recording via the section Drag and drop file here (for example, if you have edited a recording on your local computer and want to set it on demand).
  2. You can check in the slide view (2) if the correct slideshow has been assigned to the recording. If you want to change it, you can easily do so by clicking Gallery in the top right of the view.
    1. Pick a slide set or upload your desired slides via the section Drag and drop file here (for example, if you want to add a revised version of your slides to the video). For assistance in arranging the new slides for recording, contact our support team.
  3. With the video editing toolbar (3), you have the possibility to play the recording, jump to the next or previous slide or switch to the Trim mode.
  4. The video timeline (4) helps you to go to any point of your recording: Click in the timeline (grayed out) or drag the green dot to the respective spot.
    1. The length of the slides can be adjusted by dragging the preview edges (arrows at the edge of the preview images).
    2. The arrangement of the slides can be changed by drag&drop.
    3. When you move the mouse over a slide preview, two icons are displayed on the right side of the image:
      1. A red trash bin: to delete the slide.
      2. A green pencil: to edit the length of the slide by entering the exact positioning in time.
    4. Right above the timeline (in the video editing toolbar) you will find a zoom slider that allows you to zoom in or out.
  5. Via your slidedeck (5) you have your slides at hand and can drag and drop the respective slides to any position as needed.

Cutting a recording

You can respectively trim a recording at the beginning and at the end. However, it is not yet possible to cut out intermediate sections.

To enter the Trim mode, click Trim in the video editing toolbar. It appears yellow when it is activated.

On each side of the timeline an arrow with the labels IN and OUT appears above.

You can drag and drop these to the position where you would like your recording to start or end.

PLEASE NOTE: You can always shorten only in 6-second sections! So, for example, if you want to trim the first 10 seconds, you can either trim to the 7th second or to the 12th second of your recording.

Confirm the trimming by clicking Trim again.

A dialog box opens where you can assign a new title to the trimmed recording. As default value the existing title is extended with the current time.

Confirm the new title by clicking Create recording.

Once editing is complete, your recording is trimmed.

Finally, you will find the following options at the top right of the page:

- (Not) Public: This allows you to put the final edited version of your event on demand. It can be accessed via the public link of the event.

- Preview: This allows you to view and check the on demand preview.

- Revert to original: Via this you can return to the unedited version. PLEASE NOTE: The versions are listed in the overview and are available.
